See more Results from today’s late morning start 😁 TR below Trip report from Mudjimba today with some insights for those heading out Late launch as Darren could only make it 8am - in water 8:30 joined by Brendan with plan to follow Tuesday successful mission - not much bait in sounder heading NE from beach towards Wade & David who launched at 6am but had not seen alot till we arrived to see Wade dealing with his 2nd of the double hook up (est 9am) Birds few and far but bait around and down low - spotted 3 or so birds a little east so Darren and I went for them slow trolling plastics (me the reliable Zman streakz 3.75” pearl with 3/8 & 2/0 HD headlockz and Darren pink 4” paddle tail ) only for Darren to hook up then drop due to bad knot and me to hook and lose due to giving slack when turning on camera. Quiet for a while but some good surface action south east of Island spurred on a sprint from 2 of us only for the usual arrive and the party stops ! Oh and while we did that Darren decided to give away another plastic to tuna due to bad knot. Note : while all this going on I am marking spots on sounder that showed good bait - most hard on bottom and not as thick as Tuesday but worth keeping an eye on - this paid off as we paddled around and look for birds the next while, I then decided to ignore birds and go back to hang with the bait. Darren hook up trolling back and held this one till it spat the hook - I found the bait ball again near the marks and it was now mid water (again not as thick as the top to bottom screen shot from Tuesday but still plenty) Stayed in this area paddling slow then stopping then paddle and then on... first fish on board with tail grab which was only kept as Tomo from Japanese cuisine classes wanted some fresh tuna. Same plan resulted in another bigger specimen 20mins later slow trolling around the bait - again a tail grab and a shout out to Darren if he wanted it before I set it free, wanting to avoid going home fishless to 8 mouths he claimed it. Wind got up after that so we headed back. Main tip from me is don’t rely on the birds - go find bait balls and stay with them if- and as both days my fish were landed after 10am give yourself a sleep in if you prefer. Good luck I think I’m all tuna’d out, well for the weekend at least 😁 Z-Man Lures AustraliaOkuma AustraliaRailblazaBerleyproViking Kayaks AustraliaLeg Luggage ...
